I've had quite a journey and want to share what I have learned in my travels with the hope that it will help others.

I have long held a passion in my heart for making the world better for children and educating adults about ways to do this.

I have an additional cause now which is to educate the public, not just women on some unacknowledged forms of domestic violence. I found that unless one is black and blue, the tendency is to deny that a person has been abused. The truth is that psychological and emotional abuse can be even more incidious. Not to downplay physical abuse, any abuse is unacceptable and absolutely a violation of our rights as humans.
What I have found is that there is a profile for abusers, there is a pattern, there is a commonality among abusive situations that is astounding.
There are patterns for both abuser and victim. For lack of a better word, I will use the word victim. I don't like the word normally. The pattern among victims tends towards protecting the abuser. “I can help him work through this.” “I don't want to shame him in front of his friends, family, or  business associates.”  “I don't want other people to hold it against him.”
This is how a lot of financially successful, charming, social men get away with being abusers. They can charm the pants off of friends and associates, and then come home, close the door, and verbally “kick the dog.”
